I am having some issues with AMP, when I use chrome incognito on desktop my site will sometimes display the mobile version of my site not even the desktop version or the amp version.

At the moment on non incognito chrome my site isn’t functioning – not sure if these issues are related.

When I am logged into wordpress I see the desktop version of my site no problem.

Can anybody pls give me some advice?

sorry that should read – it is showing me the amp version of my site on my laptop browser in chrome & incognito chrome.

I have also set only the amp version of my site to show on mobile devices – before it was set to show both mobile theme & amp theme.

I just cleared the site cache from within the wordpress login & then checked again & I got the desktop version of my site correctly.

Makes sense as I have noticed when I am logged into wordpress back end of the site then I get desktop pages when I should do.

Thanks for the update and continued testing. Being logged into your site shouldn’t have an impact on which version of your site loads when visiting the front end of your site.

In relation to testing your site across different browsers I usually first test on the browsers installed on my machine, before then performing additional tests using browserstack.com or browserling.com.

As I don’t have any definite cause identified can you check if the same occurs if using a different theme, or with the TagDiv plugin temporarily deactivated? Note that I’m able to access your non AMP version with no issues at present.

    Hi,

I wasn’t able to change the theme yet or disable visual composer, I just checked & it is happening again.

I see the amp version on desktop in chrome incognito & when I check in browserstack safari I get the same amp version of my page.

Sorry to hear that. Let me know once you’re able to check with another theme active. You’re theme comes bundled with it’s own AMP configurations and mobile plugin as an extension.

Rather than switching themes temporarily you could also try to disable your themes “mobile plugin” extension and see if the issue persist, or use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to troubleshooting any possible theme conflict.

Let me know how you get on after trying the above. I’m happy to also check your site if you let me know once you’ve temporarily switched themes. I’m also being directed to the AMP version of your homepage.

    Hi,

Thanks I tried a different theme and ran into similar issues.

I have now disabled the mobile theme plugin but still getting same problems.

I am gonna disable cloudflare for a little while so I can fully sort this problem out.

@rickyrt Sounds good. Just let us know if you need us to take another look!

    Hi,

I went through everything above & still nothing.

The Health check picked up “persistent object caching is not enabled”

I asked the theme developer & they said it was a caching issue, but I have WP super cache installed & setup exactly to the theme developer settings.

Also when WP super cache is disabled it doesn’t make a difference. Nor if I switch off all plugins.

Do you have anything else I might try?

    Hi @rickyrt,

Thanks for the update. If the same is occurring with another theme active and the TagDiv mobile plugin disabled the next steps would be to check does the same occur with Cloudflare also temporarily deactivated. There could be a configuration or conflict with your setup, with your site pointing to Cloudflare servers at present.

I’m happy to check your site if you can perform the above, just let me know once you’ve performed the above.

I’ve also been checking out some non AMP URLs (example) and there seem to be styling or theme related issues.

    Hi thanks,

I have now disabled cloudflare, this may have taken care of the problem. When I use google page speed analysis it is picking up the desktop version for the homepage, however when I view the homepage through chrome incognito I am still seeing the the mobile version at the homepage.

Also caching plugin is disabled but the styling errors still seem to be there.

When I click exit mobile version at the bottom of the homepage – I get the following link:

    many thanks,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,

Likewise on my side I’m no longer redirected to the AMP version of your homepage on desktop. This is the same from an incognito window, or using Firefox. Have you tried another browser?

When I click exit mobile version at the bottom of the homepage – I get the following link…

Can you share a screenshot of this link? You’re using the TagDiv mobile templates and I don’t see any existing mobile link.

    Hi thanks,

That link has also disappeared for me, looks like cloudflare was the issue – but how can I make this work with cloudflare?

My loading times are terrible now…

It may a configuration issue between your themes AMP features and Cloudflare as opposed to Cloudflare specifically. Have you tried checking for the same issue with Cloudflare active and another theme active?

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. I did check your wbebsite and you seem to have finally determined the cause, which is great.
