  • The AMP framework isn’t just for mobile, with increasing numbers of sites benefiting from fully AMP sites (mobile & desktop).

When you mention you’re having problems with customization if you’d like to share more details hopefully we can assist.

My problem is that i don’t want to activate AMP for desktop pages, is that possible?

While it may be possible to create a redirect it’s not something we support, with various complexities involved. You’ll find a similar issue opened asked on the plugins GitHub repository previously.

Note that visitors to your site are unlikely to arrive on your AMP site from desktop if discovered from search. It’s the search engines that determine the version of your site to be served, with mobile searches resulting in your AMP version being served. Likewise desktop searches should result in your non AMP site being served.

If you’re using an AMP compatible theme there should be no difference in your site site between AMP and non AMP, on either mobile or desktop.

James is right. If you use Transitional mode or Reader mode then desktop visitors would rarely ever find themselves landing on an AMP page.

Twitter also links to AMP versions of URLs shared in tweets when they are available, but only when the user agent is mobile. Desktop users of Twitter go to the non-AMP version.
