AMP pages on my website are not being tracked in GA-4

They used to be tracked on UT and because of this I am seeing 60% reduction in views.

    What I have tried?

    1. I have Google SiteKit plugin configured on my website which should automatically track AMP pages but isn’t doing it.

    2. I have went through this doc – https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/amp-analytics/ and setup a gtag as specified. then also it is not being tracked.

Please help me in this case!

Thanks for reaching out @anmol09, and for sharing the troubleshooting checks you performed. I checked your AMP URLs and it looks like you’re using AMP for WP. Have you tried reaching out to the AMP for WP support team for assistance with GA4? See below to your additional comments.

    1. I have Google SiteKit plugin configured on my website which should automatically track AMP pages but isn’t doing it.

If you’re using the official AMP plugin Site Kit does place a GA4 snippet on AMP URLs. For other plugins, as Site Kit uses the new Google tag, it’s possible they may not be placed. I’d be happy to check this, however, you may wish to reach out to the AMP for WP support team as suggested above. I also noticed they have a guide on their website on this. See below:
    https://ampforwp.com/tutorials/article/how-to-add-ga4-in-ampforwp/

    2. I have went through this doc –?https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/amp-analytics/?and setup a gtag as specified. then also it is not being tracked.

I checked your AMP configuration and I didn’t see any type attribute, which should be gtag or googleanalytics. You need the type tag in order for an Analytics property ID to be attributed to a particular vendor. Rather than trying to manually add your amp-analytics snippet, please follow the guide suggested above.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi @jamesosborne

I am using “AMP” plugin and I did reach out to them for support but not received a response yet.

Please suggest me on what should I do??

Should I reset the Site Kit because it has been configured before AMP support was enabled for AMP.

or should I try to insert tag manually in AMP plugin?

I have found this plugin. Do you think that it will be of any use?

Thanks for the update @anmol09. It looks like you’re using the Newspaper theme, which has it’s own AMP templates in transitional mode. They also have their own AMP settings as per this screenshot.

I also inspected your site and I can now see a GA4 snippet placed on your AMP URLs, which includes the googleanalytics data type. This has the same measurement ID which you have defined with your Site Kit settings (G-31R****VGD).

As this snippet exists, can you visit the Analytics real time report and check to ensure that visits are now firing for that measurement ID (on your AMP URLs)? Feel free to share a screenshot of the active pages on your site at present. I’m currently on your site so my own site visit should be visible.

    Hi @jamesosborne

Thank you for your reply. I have checked the realtime activity and sadly it is not working for AMP pages and I do not see any AMP pages being listed there. (I myself tested it)
For non-amp page visits, it works completely fine though.
Is it because the code was added sometime back? or is there something else at fault here.

Sorry to hear that @anmol09. I’ve been performing some testing on this and I can confirm that Site Kit has inserted a valid GA4 snippet on your AMP URLs, even on your tagdiv theme. You’ll see this highlighted below:

If you’re not finding anything appearing on the real time reporting tool for your GA4 snippet, I would advise checking this with the product experts over on the Analytics Help Center.

It’s also possible that you may be encountering a problem with reporting based on both a Site Kit placed GA4 AMP snippet, and a non Site Kit placed GA4 AMP snippet placed. Try to remove the non Site Kit placed snippet before checking your Analytics real time reporting tool once more (while visiting your AMP URLs). Note that when checking your real time report, you should visit your AMP URLs while not logged in, in order to ensure traffic is counted. You’ll notice also that AMP visits are not defined specifically as AMP visits, so please check the AMP version of a page on your site without checking the non AMP version, to help you ensure that the site visits are for the AMP version only.

To summarize the above, Site Kit has placed an AMP valid GA4 snippet on your site as expected. The product experts over at the Analytics Help Center can assist with any queries as to why these are not appearing in your Analytics real time report.

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
