(Before going into this, yes I did check the Forums first and tried all of the stuff suggested without anything changing)

Hi, I have had a devil of a time trying to resolve two major errors with my website. Both revolve around the AMP & Jetpack. I initially assumed they were related somehow. While it used to connect to Jetpack and AMP just fine, both seemed to stop a little while back.

Now my site claims it “fails to connect to the AMP page” even when I have everything connected. I even made sure to add in the posts and pages, as well as media. I tried all three versions of the AMP options. Nothing worked.

I tried to see if there were any validation issues, but every single plug-in and post is validated without even a hint of an error.

Jetpack will show stats but won’t actually connect. So I cannot automatically share articles or connect socials at all to it.

The reason I thought the two might be connected was the cURL notification my Site Health referenced. Along with the API error it seemed to have often. Along with a WPCOM Error

I have not seen the API and cURL problem in Site Health since, but the Wpcom Error is still there.

I’ve gone as far as removing the previous theme and simply adding a new one, just to see if that might help. Nope, that did not solve everything either.

My site runs enormously slow, in spite of any optimization I do. So everything is a mess, and I’d like to solve at least a few problems.

  • Hi @joeb009, thanks for contacting us, could you share your UUID?

    Hi @joeb009,

Related to speed, I have tested your pages on mobile devices. Your pages are hefty; you are posting images with 4MB and 3000 pixels when a mobile phone resolution on landscape goes to 760px.

The total size for your page is 25.7MB, while the recommended full size for mobile is 500kb. I would suggest you run some image optimization.

Before uploading your images, use some image optimization tool; there are a few plugins and websites that you can use, for example, squoosh.

WordPress also supports WebP, an optimized image format for the web.

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you require any further assistance.
