I switched to InMotion Hosting’s WP 4000S plan that allows persistent object caching.
I updated AMP and Site Kit.

I’m still not getting referrals showing cdn ampproject… whereas when I was posting new blogs and my old AMP site from the Google AMP study group kicked in, I’d have 60 or more visitors with the ampproject name attached to their visits.

Prior to switching hosting plans, my Total Blocking Time was 1,240 ms

When I used the other AMP for WP plugin, and used their caching, my amp pages loaded in just a couple milliseconds. So, does that mean that I need to be able to see the cdn ampproject caching thing attached to my visits? before there’s real speed improvement?

    Hello @considerthis1

We are unable to reach your site at the movement, please contact your hosting provider or developer, let us know when it’s back online so we can test it.

Yes… dns has now been updated

for whatever reason, having changed to the faster WP hosting at InMotionHosting, my GTMetrix score has dropped from A99% to A92% and it’s now telling me that my initial server response time is too slow. So… not ideal… still on the phone with techs…

Update: GTMetrix for my site is now A100% , so the new hosting has given me a boost. It had to switch from Apache to Ng-something, with built in persistent object caching… Redis won’t work with it.

So yet again my desktop is MUCH faster than my AMP…
Why is AMP so much slower than my desktop?????

    Per PageSpeed Insights :

    Mobile
    Total Blocking Time
    1,440 ms
    POOR
    Largest Contentful Paint
    9.7 s
    POOR
    Cumulative Layout Shift

    Desktop
    Total Blocking Time
    320 ms
    NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
    Largest Contentful Paint

    GOOD
    Cumulative Layout Shift

    Hello @considerthis1

I see you are scoring low in image optimization, I also see that you have jetpack installed but you didn’t enable image optimizations. your sites scores will improve once you enable those optimizations

Login to Administrator -> Jeptack -> Settings -> Switch “Performance” tab -> look for “Performance & speed” -> enable all the options

with my new WP hosting I get Jetpack professional. So I need to see how to access that.

Weird though, that my Desktop site is so fast and my mobile is fast but the AMP lags…

As an aside, my site AMP scores did not improve with the AMP update that I was told would make the Paint thing swifter… nor with the site kit update… I use SMUSH for all my images, after creating them with optimization in GIMP.

I did it then ran the test twice. The first run was four times worse. The second:
    Total Blocking Time
    790 ms
    POOR
    Largest Contentful Paint
    6.1 s
    POOR
    Cumulative Layout Shift
    0.916
    POOR
sooo, there was some improvement for mobile, but it’s still slower than desktop…???

But, it made desktop worse for paint and layout…
    Total Blocking Time
    30 ms
    GOOD
    Largest Contentful Paint
    1.6 s
    NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
    Cumulative Layout Shift
    0.986
    POOR`

Using the suggested settings brought my GTMetrix score down dramatically, and I was warned not to have too big of some sort of load. I undid the changes and my score went back up.

I wonder why Desktop is faster, and things that help AMP appear to hinder desktop????

    I find this confusing!
