    Hi,

The AMP versions of our urls have started to fail in Google’s Recipe Rich Results Test. We see the error ‘Not all markup is eligible for rich results’ on AMP urls but they validate completely on the non-AMP url.

In both ‘Recipes’ and ‘Guided recipes’ there is an error of: ‘Missing field ‘image’ which doesn’t appear on the non-AMP version.

We are now seeing that our AMP results are appearing in Google serps without an image and many of our recipes have disappeared completely from the Recipe carousels etc at the top of Google search results.

    Any idea what’s causing this?

    Many thanks!

  • Thank for reaching out. Can you confirm whether you’re using the Easy Recipe Plugin plugin?

In addition to sharing the plugin used can you please temporarily switch to the AMP plugins transitional mode while I check your site once more?

    Hi James,

Many thanks for the help. Yes, we are using the Easy Recipe Plugin.

I’ve just switched to transitional. The suffix has changed from /amp to ?amp but the AMP and non-AMP versions look exactly the same now. Does that sound right?

Yes, that is correct if you’re using transitional mode. You’ll find more details on transitional mode on the link provided, with this most working best for themes that are fully AMP compatible. In your case while the Genesis framework is fully AMP compatible I don’t believe your child theme has been made completely AMP compatible, with your mobile navigation menu possibly not working by default for your AMP URLs.

Back to the original issue I’m checking your site now and it looks like you have reader mode once again active. Can you keep transitional mode active for a moment while I check your site. The recipe plugin you’re using also may not be fully AMP compatible.

Transitional is still active – I never switched back…

Thanks, I see the error remains. While the issue seems to come from the Easyrecipe plugin please allow me some time to check this. I’ll get back to you at some stage today.

Great, thanks James. Can I switch back to Reader in the meantime?

    Yes, please do so.

    Done, thanks!

Thanks for your patience on this. I’ve tested the plugin and I’ve been unable to recreate the same structured data error. I used a posts default featured image as opposed to uploading with the Easyrecipe plugin.

For testing please check whether the same occur with another theme temporarily activated. There may be modifications to the default behavior of features images. If the same issue persists please share how your adding the image to your recipe.

Okay, thanks for testing that for us James.

I’ll try using a different theme – and update here, probably tomorrow.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

I’ve tried using the Twenty Twenty-One theme and the same error occurs. We add the image to the recipe article the same way that you did, using the default featured image rather than uploading through EasyRecipe. Although you can select a different image via the plugin, if you want, be we don’t.

Any other ideas? Plugin conflict possibly?

    Hi again @jamesosborne

Just to update – I’ve tried an alternative recipe plugin (WP Recipe Maker). I’ve only edited one article so far, but it now passes the rich snippets test completely.

So looks like either EasyRecipe was the culprit, or, at least it was conflicting with another plugin which WP Recipe Maker has no problem with.

Thanks for the help and I’ll mark this as resolved now.

Nice troubleshooting, that’s good to hear. Strange that I didn’t encounter the same Rich Results issue on my side, but great that it’s resolved.

If you have any further queries be sure to get in touch.
