• Apologies, I had no idea where to ask this, but I work for a website that uses wordpress to make its articles. Other people use it with me, but for some reason I’ve run into a problem with Ampersands. Now I KNOW in code that ampersands are produced as “& amp;” – but they’ve never appeared that way for me in code view before. They always used to be just “&”. When the post is published, I still see just “& amp;” as the output but I want my code view to stop replacing my ampersands with “& amp;”. Here’s a link to an image:

Notice the “& amp;”? All my ampersands keep getting turned into those, but I want it to stay as just “&”.

    No need to apologize!

Is the code button deselected in the text box?

The code button was not pressed, otherwise “code” would be written there on the image inside the sideways carrots (< and >)

Also I tried using my laptop and I get the same problem on there as well…

    Hey @dgdskhdshsdj

The WordPress editor converts some characters to their HTML entities. This often happens when you switch between the Visual and Text editor. For example, the > would be converted to > and < becomes < respectively. There are several others that it applies it too and as I mentioned it happens when switching between visual and text modes.

Sorry for bumping this but I still need this question answered. I just want ampersands to stay as “&” when I type them – they started appearing as “& amp;” randomly one day. I’m talking in Text View. No one else using the same WordPress as me has this problem. While the “&”s show up in the Text View, they oddly don’t show up for me in the preview – other users of my WordPress tell me that these “&” appear for them however. This can’t be the first time this has ever happened to somebody.
