Amplify Theme by firefly Image Overlay

I want to add an overlay to the front of my images on the first page those five in the middle.

I want it to function like the ones here: https://www.codegrape.com/item/wordpress-images-text-hover-css3-animation-widget/3063/full_screen_preview, but more like this: https://codepen.io/ianfarb/pen/ikeAf. It can be the basic hover vertical drop, but I want to change the color and text. I have simple custom CSS so that would be incredibly helpful if it is just a code I can implement. This theme is mostly edited via live composer. If I can add something to the import code that would work too. I also know that some Live composer modules have overlay if I can do the same with one of those let me know. I already went to the theme support forum and tried a few codes.
