Hi, you also need to make sure you add your website domain to the Facebook App. Just go to your app on https://developer.facebook.com, click on Settings, and make sure your domain is added to Site URL. In your case it’s https://wordpress.creativelearning.in/

Better instructions have been provided in the 0.5.1 release. Thanks!

Mike that didnt work, the app still errors out with the access token error.

    this shouldnt be this complicated

toeknee32, I’m sorry you are having difficulties. Unfortunately, Facebook made this so it is more complicated to even get publicly available data via their graph API. If you added the app ID and are getting that error, you likely didn’t include the URL of your site to the app. The instructions explain how to add the URL of your site to the Facebook App in a step by step approach.

Mike – I too am having this issue

https://snag.gy/APRNk.jpg – Here is a screen cap of the facebook App settings

Also when using the short code will that pull in the images from Facebook (CDN) or do I need to import them and have them displayed from my local server

Mike – as a quick follow-up could it be that we need the App secret as as well as the ID?

sflwa, that looks correct. That is the URL of the site you have the plugin enabled on? (silly question, I know, but have to check.)

When you import the album, you have the option to pull in the images to WordPress or use the images from Facebook.

You do not need the App Secret since the plugin just reads from Facebook and uses the JavaScript SDK.

Yes – 100% that is the URL which I have the plugin on and I know the app id is working as I have a different plugin which I tested it with and worked fine

So based on that what do you suggest for next steps?

What error do you get when you try to import an album? Are you trying to import an album from a public page or your own personal album? If it’s a public page, can you post the URL to that Facebook page here so I can try importing it?

    Here are steps I did
    1) Created Facebook App with URL
    2) Pasted Facebook App ID – This saved just fine
    3) Tried both cpbchamber and 1073741899 for the public id

Error message is “An access token is required to request this resource”

URL of Album (Public Page) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.903574233045888.1073741899.279398545463463&type=3

Make sure you login to Facebook under “Import Your Personal Facebook Albums”. (I will move that more prominently at the top of the import page when I redo the UI in the next version).

If that still doesn’t work, double check that your Facebook App’s name and icon is above “Remove App”. If it’s not visible, you entered the App ID in incorrectly.

    We maybe getting somewhere

I do not have any name / icon above the remove app button https://snag.gy/zHNdv.jpg
and I am logged into Facebook (https://snag.gy/0oNV0.jpg)

Interestingly if I click show albums i get a similar access token error but this says “an active access token must be used to query information about the current user”

Here are the app settings to make sure Im not missing something

If you’d like access or more information – please fill out a contact form on my website https://www.sflwa.net (just so I don’t post it publicly here) I’d be more than happy to give you access to the facebook app / the website as needed
