    Greetings Scott,

I’ve been trying to run Simply Static on a multisite instance and get this message:

[2016-12-22 20:40:04] (username) has started generating static files
    [2016-12-22 20:40:04] Setting up
    [2016-12-22 20:40:04] An error occurred:

No details on what the error is.
    All the diagnostics are green.

I’ve taken the following steps with no resolution:
    — deleted the plugin and re-uploaded and activated it
    — made sure there are not already any generated static files in the file directory
    — removed 1.8 and tried 1.7.1 instead
    — cleared the cache and reset file permissions via WP Engine
    — WP Engine error log is empty

    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

  • Hi Jenny,

I don’t have a good explanation for why that would be happening. I’m releasing a new version of Simply Static in the next week or two that will have an option for better debugging. If you can hold on just a bit, I think that’d be a good way to try and solve this.

    Best,
    Scott

Hi Scott, thanks, will look out for that – additional info is that other sites on the same multisite do archive correctly, but the site I’m working on now is REALLY big.

    Hi Jenny,

The 405 on xmlrpc.php will happen every time. It’s meant for API calls, not human consumption, but Simply Static will still pick up links to it and try to include it.

In a future version of Simply Static I’ll probably specifically exclude that file and others like it.

    Best,
    Scott
