    Hi, I’ve installed the Site Kit plugin from the WordPress Plugin repository, I have the latest version of WP, PHP7.3 and the plugin and when i click on Sign in with Google, I get the following error:

    An error occurred: We are unable to send credentials to your WordPress site. This is likely due to your hosting provider blocking incoming REST API requests. Please check with them if that is the case.

    I’ve spoken to my hosting and they have confirmed that there is no block in place.

    I have also tried with all other plugins de-activated and it still presents that error.

    The site in question is hosted with Paragon Internet Group.

  • @cmedigital we’ve done further investigation and found that incoming POST requests blocked on the server could also cause this error and prevent the setup process from completing. Are you able to check with your host if this is the case?

    We’re working on a fix and I’ll update you as soon as I have more information, but it would be great to get any feedback about your case.

    @reneesoffice I’ve doubled checked and there are no API blocks in place

    Hi

    Get the same error on a TSO Hosted WordPress site with the same PHP version as above. I have updated to Google Site Kit 1.02 and this hasn’t resolved the issue.

    @reneesoffice

    I have a support ticket with TSO who have requested this info:

    “We need the IP that connects to us, which should be provided by the author or support of the theme/plugin. ”

    looks like this issue affects a few hosts.

    @reneesoffice Having updated the plugin to the latest version today – the same error is being received.

    @westerdaled TSO / Paragon are the same hosting firm – so looks like we are suffering from the same issue.

    @cmedigital

    Yes, the plugin support as asked me to raise a separate issue for TSO Host but as you say this going be the same as the Paragon host. Let’s hope this issue gets resolved.

    Thanks for the follow up! We’re going to investigate this further. We definitely appreciate the information thus far. I’ll keep you updated.

    @cmedigital we’ve made some changes in the new version 1.0.3 to the way we make the REST API request. @westerdaled kindly reported getting through the setup process successfully. Just checking if you had a chance to try?

    @reneesoffice Updated the plugin and wordpress to versions 1.03 and 5.3 respectively and the sign up process is now working.

    @cmedigital Many thanks for the update! Fantastic to hear that fixed it. Feel free to leave a review of the plugin if you’d like.
