Hi @psychic9, thanks for your message.

Firstly, are you running 2FA/reCAPTCHA through Wordfence? Secondly, are you using any custom login pages on your site?

The reason I ask is because Wordfence’s 2FA and reCAPTCHA work only with default registration/login pages for WordPress and WooCommerce. With WooCommerce, we’re currently planning a feature to allow 2FA setup for users who don’t have access to wp-admin pages where our 2FA is normally set up, such as /my-account.

Let me know if you’re not running any Login Security features, or running Wordfence independently to any other plugins on your site also fails. If you notice users are able to log in fine when other plugins are disabled, reenable your other plugins one-by-one until the problem returns to find what’s causing the conflict.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hi @psychic9,

If you’re using WooCommerce as suggested in your original message, ensure Wordfence > Login Security > Settings > Enable WooCommerce integration is checked.

As mentioned in my original message, if this is an attempt to access /my-account rather than wp-login.php then this change is going to be available in an upcoming update, so for now you will only be able to add 2FA for administrators accessing the WooCommerce and the WordPress dashboard.

    Thanks again,

    Peter.

    Hi
yes this is an attempt to access /my-account rather than wp-login.php.
I have as administrator no problem to connect to my login page.

I have a custom log in page ‘/members-login-page’

While all users have F2A set to disabled and only Admin is set to F2A – All users still get the following messaging (including admin whn using the custom url login page)

ERROR: An error was encountered while trying to authenticate. Please try again.

    I’ve just encountered the same problem as others on this page before me;
ERROR: An error was encountered while trying to authenticate.?

I’ve got 2FA on for administrator – no one else
WHAT are you suggesting to do?
Turn off 2FA and see if log in is then possible?

    I don’t have reCaptcha
What do you mean by : work only with default registration/login pages for WordPress?
