    Dear David,
First of all thanks for the wonderful plugin. I especially appreciate the WikiLink function.

    Here’s my problem:
I’m trying to set up the wiki pages so that on every page’s sidebar a list of pages from the current wiki category only will appear – like a category menu of sorts.
Looks easy, but I tried with many widgets/shortcodes/plugins and none of them seems able to recognize the current category of the wiki page.
Note that when I tested the widgets on regular posts, they worked fine: only on YadaWiki posts some of them will display pages from all categories (note that I was able to select yada_wiki as post type); and others will display nothing.

Do you have any idea of why wiki categories are not recognized as current?
Or, do you know of any plugin/widget that does work?

My workaround was to write wiki articles as regular posts instead, but the WikiLink function won’t work there.
So, either I use WikiLinks or I have the category menu… having both seems impossible.
Unless there’s a way to use WikiLinks outside of the yada_wiki posts?

    Thank you for your time!
    have a great day
    m

    Hi ziogil,

A lot of these plugins just work with the built in Posts Categories. Since Yada Wiki has its own separate taxonomy they don’t pick it up.

I was able to get this to work on my test site and I think this might work if you don’t have tons of categories:

I added two categories for the wiki: “Animals” (with a slug of “animals”) and “numbers” (with a slug of “numbers). I created some wiki posts for each category.

I installed the plugin Widget Logic. Then added the Yada Wiki TOC widget to the sidebar and selected the category “Animals” and in the conditions box typed:

    has_term(‘animals’,’wiki_cats’)

Where “animals” is the slug of your category. “wiki_cats” is the slug for the Yada Wiki Categories, so I wouldn’t change that. Be careful when copying and pasting because sometimes the single quotes are changed to left and right ticks. You want the single quote that is the key next to the Enter key (for English keyboard anyway).

When I did that, the list of articles in the “Animals” category only showed in the sidebar when the wiki page had the Animals category assigned. Add another Yada Wiki TOC widget to the sidebar and repeat for the next wiki category. It would be a pain if you have lots of categories, but if you only have a handful then manageable.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Best regards,

    David

    Alrite, seems to be working!
I actually have quite a few categories but I think I can manage this. Thanks again for your help, it was quick and effective.
