    Hi there,

I am not a newbie, but I genuinely can’t get your plugin to work. Perhaps it’s not what I am after?

I have 300 posts, and I want to add certain custom fields to posts that have particular categories – and there are about 25 categories. If I was to do this manually I would have to go into each individual post and add the custom field one-by-one. What I want to do is select a collection of posts and click on Edit, then add the custom field for a number of them.

So I have installed your plugin to do this, but when I select multiple posts (or pages) and click on Edit, then the usual taxonomies appear to edit (Categories, Tags, Sticky etc), but not the Custom Fields.

I have checked the Settings page and all post types are selected.

What am I missing? If you could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks a lot,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

What you’d do with this plugin is to check on the Settings page and make sure that the plugin is enabled for the post type you are after. Then you’d click on Bulk Edit under that section, check the posts you want to change and add the custom fields.

(WordPress hasn’t made the bulk edit area very pluggable so this is the best way to add on functionality.)

    Ahh, I finally got it.

I was following your instructions and still couldn’t get it to work, and I was getting frustrated. I didn’t realise that the “Bulk Edit” was a new menu item, rather than going to Posts > All Posts and then selecting Edit under Bulk Options. But now I can see that under each section (Posts, Pages) there is a new menu and that has made all the difference. Thanks a lot, I really appreciate your help.

Matt’s had the precise problem I have now.
Although, what I wish to add is a repeater field within a field group for a large group of custom posts.
I’ve tried typing ‘fieldName_[10]_subFieldName’ for the name and ‘Name’ for the value.
It adds a new window called ‘custom fields’ with the name and value given but, separate from the existing field group window.
The new custom field is not part of the existing field group.
Is that within the capabilities of this plugin?
    Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark, I’m sorry to say that I don’t really have a good answer for you. I’m really not sure how ACF builds these groups. You may have to dig into the core of what is going on under the hood to get an answer. I don’t have the availability to make changes to the plugin at this time.

    Sorry about that.
