• got a new blog here that’s been heavily mod-ed.
    the template has been done from scratch.
    https://www.londondrum.com/events/

    it’s a “what’s on” guide that uses wordpress to print out all the events. it pulls things like the nearest bus-stops and train stations from a database as well.
    all the pages have their own titles, descriptions, keywords, robot meta tags and everything. if you look at a tag page for example, for a popular attraction, then they all come with little introductory descriptions which link back into the main site with maps. it’s given me a thousand-or-so extra pages in the search engines within a couple of weeks — for next to no work. i have to say that wordpress is the greatest bit of free software that i’ve ever used. my hats off to the designers. when you get into the nitty gritty and start amending all the php, it’s the bees knees.

    but i wouldn’t mind some pointers. do you think the page is a little bit too busy?

  • You have managed to include a ton of information, and I can see where it would be very useful. My main concern is that there is so much going on that it becomes overwhelming. I think it would be easier on the eye if you eliminated one of your sidebars. Since they don’t extend all the way to the bottom of the page anyway there is plenty of space available.

    * Theatre shows
    * Stage musicals etc
    are a little too small, might want to consider a font size change to make them more visible, also with so much content you should introduce some white space to break it up

    I’d have to agree with some of the above and say that you have some information overload going on on the front page. I would consider having a “switchboard” page that displays a few choice events and then you visitor can decide what category he/she wants to drill down into from there.

    i agree with you there so i’ve done it, i’ve removed most of the info for the events and just left it as the excerpt and the headings
