The “SEO analysis” of the meta description tag gives incorrect advice if pasted in from the clipboard.

It reports that the meta description tag is “is over 156 characters” when this is not the case, or even when it is only a few characters are used.

A correct analysis is only given when the tag text is manually typed in.

    Hello @sadhaka

Thanks for reaching out about Yoast SEO analysis. What you reported may happen if you have copied some unnecessary HTML tags along with the text; these may be seen as extra characters in your text. You can confirm these extras if you switch to text mode instead of the visual editor of the WordPress content editor.

To ensure just your text is copied and pasted, right-click when you paste from the clipboard and choose ‘Paste as plain text’ or use Ctlr+Shift+V on Windows.
