    Hi,

I’m a bit worried to see the new message “With the release of WooCommerce 4.0, these reports are being replaced. There is a new and better Analytics section available for users running WordPress 5.3+. Head on over to the WooCommerce Analytics or learn more about the new experience in the WooCommerce Analytics documentation.”

There are three important areas where Analytics is still lagging behind Reports:

    1. No support for historical data at the variation level in Products. This is crucial for purchasing forecasting.

    2. No Average daily calculations for gross and net daily sales. This is the primary thing I look at to see how well we are doing in a month, since it is mostly independent of how many days have elapsed and how many days there are in a month.

    3. Skyverge’s Cost of Goods plugin does not yet integrate with Analytics to provide inventory valuation. Obviously this is not WC’s fault, but it adds weight to the idea that Analytics is not yet ready to replace Reports.

Please can you tell me how imminent this replacement is?

    Thanks.

  • Hi @tufty,

I appreciate the concern. For any features that are missing you can open up an issue at GitHub to make sure the developers are aware of it.

The deprecation notice is there to prompt third-party developers to go on and update their plugins to use Analytics instead of reports. That will take some time for them to catch up and make the changes. We also want store owners to start getting familiar with them too.

This is a “soft deprecation.” Even when the old reports are disabled, you’ll be able to use them via a plugin or perhaps a filter. If you rely on them or a plugin that doesn’t get updated, you should still be good to go. They won’t be updated anymore so if there is a bug in the future with them, that won’t likely be patched.

Let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
