Analytics Revenue & Taxes discrepancy

As I understand the report you see under Analytics > Taxes has values that do not match your total Revenue, correct?

Can you please go to Analytics > Taxes and check the total taxes value, here:

And then go to Analytics > Revenue and check the total taxes there:

Do those values match?

Furthermore, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Hi, that’s correct; the values doesn’t match. The strange thing is that the Taxes almost match, but when I calculate the sales, it’s a big difference. But lets take this step by step. Here are the values of tax by both reports:
Tax report: € 51.358
Revenue report: € 51.357,73
Total orders are different in each report:
Tax report: 3886 orders
Revenue report: 3928 orders

My taxes look like this:
6% BE: 373,94
21% BE: 8.359,22
9% NL: 3.182,17
21% NL: 39.442,67

If you calculate the sales from these tax figures, it looks like this (using the method I mentioned earlier):
6% BE: 6.232,33
21% BE: 39.805,81
9% NL: 35.357,44
21% NL: 187.822,24
Total sales ex vat: € 269.217,83

This is realy close to the gross sales of the Revenue report (270.994,65), but then the returns and the coupons are subtracted. We end up with 268.106,65.
Then there is this ‘Shipping’ of 10.393,64. It looks like these costs are not includes in the tax figures. This might be an important clue. It doesn’t say if this figure is in or ex vat.

The “Shipping” value is typically exclusive of VAT. However, the tax applied to shipping can vary depending on your WooCommerce settings and the tax rules in your region. This could potentially be the source of the discrepancy.

2. Whether or not you’re applying taxes to your shipping costs.

With all orders having been placed within the two countries (BE & NL), or otherwise? Another reason might have occurred for the 4 orders to not be included in the tax report (like sales to other countries in the EU, or other tax-deducting reason).

I’m curious what the numbers will be, when utilizing a tool like metorik.com for reporting.

I will do some research now by comparing the lists of order by the two different reports.

What I found till now:

• it seems that fully refunded orders are not substracted from the net sales
• partly refunded orders are counted as 2 orders. 1 for the initial order and 1 for the refunded part. The refunded part is incorporated in the sales, other then the fully refunded orders.
• I use a plugin for removing VAT for BE clients when they apply a valid VAT nr. So for those clients, their VAT is not included in the Tax Report. That makes sense.
• All the orders of 1 specific client are not included in sales. Still have to figure out why.

Based on the documentation, linked here, refunds appear as a negative number on the date that the return occurred (not the date the order was placed).

What was the payment gateway in use for the refunded orders?

Special client status assigned, perhaps? Other features/benefit(s) when logged in the site? Created prior to a site migration?

Just throwing ideas out there, in case if helps with figuring out.
