  • Hi Beer,

I have installed this, I have the most upto date versions of the plugin and of IPB installed, runnning the correct PHP verion, HTML is enabled, Mod_rewrite is in my .htaccess file… but its not working ??

Would you be able to assist me? If you need screen grabs or copies of my .htaccess file i’ll be happy to oblige as I would like this for the exact reason you developed it, to turn off the WP comments and use IPB instead!

    Thanks in advance… Niall

Well, what I have to edit to not show me the first comment which actually is first post of the thread ?

When I post some news, the plugin post it to my forum – here everything is ok, but when come back to my news it has 1 comment the same text as news, so I want to start showing comments not from thread comment (thread starter comment – news poster) but from 1 comment for thread…

No when I open my news in wp I see the news and in the first comment I see the same news. I hope you understand where’s my problem.

@beboss – It shows the last 5 posts on IPB in your comments, so that 1st post will fall off once your topic has 5 posts but thanks for the reminder. I’ll make sure I keep it from doing that in a future update.

If anyone else was able to get it posting on their forum after having trouble initially, please post here and let us know what the mistake was even if it was just something overlooked and small. It may help others.

    Beer:

I have followed the instructions but this does not seem to be working. When I make a post, it just takes me to the forum, but it does not create a thread anywhere.

Could you please provide some assistance? I would really like to have this feature.

@themustard, If it redirects you to the forum, you’re likely using an older version. Can you confirm? A few versions ago it was missing a constant from IPB’s class to resolve that issue.

There’s an important checklist to help troubleshoot.

What are your Friendly URL settings? (in 3.1.4 it’s located in Tools & Settings > System Settings > System > Search Engine Optimization)

Redirect to new friendly URL format? – Yes
    URL Type – Query String
Use .htaccess mod_rewrite – Yes (and your .htaccess contains the settings it suggests)

The forum that you enabled for that category did you enable HTML posting in IP Board for it?

What about the member ID? Does it have permission to post HTML?

I’m using 1.2.6 of your plugin and wordpress 3.0.4

I changed all of those settings but all it does now is say the forums don’t exist. (due to the change in URL).

Where in IPboard do I change the HTML settings? I do not see it in permissions.

Ok I found the html settings for forums. Still looking for members.

Ok yeah, I just changed all of the settings from above (HTML as well) and it’s still just only redirecting to the main forum page. When clicking on one of the forums, it says URL not found.

Ok keep in mind this won’t fix old posts. You have to make any changes to your forum settings, but then also create new WP posts on your WP install to see if that fixes it. Is there a way you can email me privately or PM me on the IPB Community Forums? So that you can share the links and let me actually see what it’s doing?

Yes. I don’t see your email address on here, but can you email me at [email protected].

I would like to grant you access so that you can see what is going on.

For those wondering it was a path setting that needed fixed. Once we corrected that, the plugin is working well.

    Hi Beer

I’ve done a few modifications to the code (fetches avatars now). Let me know if you like to see my code to incorporate into future revisions of the plugin.

You can check out the sample site I put it on: https://musicianstechniques.com/?p=1

Are you considering embedding a comment submission form from wordpress?

@railroadmedia that looks great! Nicely done. I had not considered embedding a comment form, no. You can see my Todo list in the Other Notes tab of the plugin. I had a lot of things I wanted to do with the plugin but then ran out of time to work on it.

I may have some time later today to work on this so that some of the Todo list can get taken care of. I think priority will be so you can turn the comments on or off.

    @beer
I’m really interested (as is my boss) in getting a comment submission form from within WordPress. Would that be something a larger donation could encourage?

Feel free to email me if you’d like to discuss further.
