Thanks, for the info but looking at the recent posts, it doesn’t seem to publish release announcements. Like the last post says 4.7.2 has no release date but AFAIK, it was released today.

I found your post as I am having the same difficulty as you in subscribing to the announce mailing list. Frustratingly, the instructions at the link you listed do not work for me either.

I found the following post which was of help to me, and I thought it might help you also:

Essentially, what I did as a workaround to not being able to subscribe to the announce mailing list was to subscribe to the www.ads-software.com news feed using IFTTT. When you create an account on IFTTT, you can set up a recipe to email you when there is an update on the RSS feed.

I had this problem too! I found a “secret” link to my support profile at:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/profile/%5Busername%5D/edit

This contains the mailing list subscription info which is missing from:
https://profiles.www.ads-software.com/%5Busername%5D
which is where you usually get directed to.

However, I was already subscribed to this, and don’t seem to have been sent anything about “WordPress 4.7.5 Security and Maintenance Release” which appeared on the blog yesterday.

A simple mailing list for security releases would be very helpful in keeping WordPress secure for those who don’t log in to a dashboard daily, or stay a minor version number behind. It would benefit system administrators, site builders and owners. An archive to show previous announcements would also help.

A rather desperate solution is to add text alerts alerts at https://profiles.www.ads-software.com/%5Busername%5D/profile/notification
