ANOTHER 2.0.40 PROBLEM WITH NEWSPAPER THEM

My current system is setup with the latest versions of Apache, PHP, MySQL, etc.
We are running WordPress MU.
I installed 2.0.40 with the theme NEWSPAPER by Themeforest but get the dreaded “An unexpected error occured. This is most likely due to a server misconfiguration. Check your PHP error log or ask your hosting provider for assistance.”
The install works on my default theme on another site, but not on my live site.
Disabled and Enabled plugins until I went blind.
Hope someone can shed some light. Really wanted to use NextGEN.
