Jeremy, I had another Jetpack Facebook Sharing issue again tonight. While I corrected the picture issue from before that we talked about, my posting tonight didn’t make it over to Facebook. I used the debug tool for Facebook and got an error that said “OG: Type” wasn’t populated. 10 minutes later I used the debug tool again and it was. Were you working on something between 12 am and 12:35am tonight 10/29? My link is the following:

Also, I’m currently getting an error in that debug tool that’s not critical and am hoping you can help me with it since it also deals with a sharing issue…

“Admins And App ID Missing fb:admins and fb:app_id tags are missing. These tags are necessary for Facebook to render a News Feed story that generates a high click-through rate.”

Let me know when you can… Thanks Jeremy!!! ??

Since you use the Add-Meta-Tags plugin to manage Open Graph Meta Tags, Jetpack or WordPress.com have no control over the look of your posts on Facebook. If the tags were missing when Facebook crawled your post, it was not caused by Jetpack.

You’ll need to run some tests to check if the Add-Meta-Tags plugin adds the tags properly on your site, and if it does, you’ll need to check if the tags are also there when Facebook first crawls your post after you publish it.

You’ll need to contact Add-Meta-Tags’ plugin author about this, since that’s the plugin managing Open Graph meta tags on your site.

Jeremy, just curious on something… does Jetpack send over the FB:Admins and FB:App ID if I didn’t use Add Meta Tags. If so, what are their normal values?

No, Jetpack doesn’t add any admin or app ID meta tags, since these are only optional.

I believe Add-Meta-Tags does, though, if you filled in your profile information under Users > My Profile.
If that doesn’t work, it might be worth asking the plugin author for help. They might be able to add this feature to the plugin for you.

I have another thread I added on this for anyone interested.

Facebook now requires one of these two fields to be in the meta share going over to it or else it gives an error. I added the userid field and that seems to work fine. Whether you use SEO by Yoast or add meta tags or something else, this needs to be something added now for whatever Facebook’s reason.

We’ll definitely consider adding the option in a future Jetpack update, thanks!
