Another permalink change problem

  • I’ve searched here and googled and find similar issues, but none of the prescriptions seem to fix it for me.

    I have WP installed in a sub directory called /blog/
    I want to change from the non-pretty permalinks to something like /%category%/%postname%/

    I’ve enabled mod-rewrite which fixed the 500 error i was getting, but now I get a 404 error.
    I think it’s something to do with the subdirectory. I’ve always had a domain redirect setup to direct from the base domain to /blog/ – maybe that’s futzing with the permalinks? I’ve also got Dean’s PermalinksMigration pluging activated, but it’s not helping.

  • This has to do with your .htaccess file.. Id start there unless you already have…

    Yeah, I’ve already gone through a bunch of directions for .htaccess that i’ve found, but unfortunately none of them have fixed the problem. Any specific hints about .htaccess?

    Googling, this seems to be a pretty common issue (at least not rare, anyway).

    Anyone have any specific ideas as to what’s possibly going wrong?
