I read quite a few posts here with the error:
There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.
I can tell you I try all recent solutions with no success
So this is my current status:

WP 4.6.1
Contact form 7 version 4.5.1
Fresh install couple times
very simple form, only 4 fields and the Send button. (removed reCaptcha just because it could be a problem)

Try the solution of replacing wp_mail with mail
try the solution of re-inserting reCaptch keys and also deleting it at all
try the solution of changing pluggable.php
note that is NOT the same error message that was in this faq (https://contactform7.com/faq/after-submitting-the-form-i-get-an-error-message/) . mean, it’s not SPAM.
Any other ideas?

Hi Takayuki,
Thank you for taking time on my question.
That page you point is the same one I already visit (pointed that on the original question)
The page do not offer a solution for what could be a SPAM (which I’m not sure it is, since the verbose on the error is different. My says “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.” and your says: “Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact adminsitrator by other way”)

Any other ideas?

Switch to the default theme and try submitting again. Tell us what error do you see.

Hi,
I don’t understand: “switch to the default theme”…
I updated wordpress and I removed the recaptcha. But this is not the solution.
error after submit:
“Die Nachricht konnte nicht gesendet werden. Bitte versuche es noch einmal zu einem sp?teren Zeitpunkt oder informiere den Administrator der Webseite.”
Could you help, we need our contact form…

Before doing the switch, I decide to update the whole server to PHP5.6
It was only on the /host that I have the command to use PHP5.6, then I update it from the root ( / ) to use always PHP5.6 (was 5.4) and then the form worked…
