• I am looking to setup a daily feature, showing Family Birthdays & Anniversaries in a sidebar.

Are there any existing widgets or plugins to do this?

    Thanks
    Peter

  • Owen’s Countdown plugin is good. I’ve made a mod to it for me so that it emails me a reminder when I get to 10 days before the birthday. I am forgetful and this helps.

This may not be quite what you’re looking for, but a friend of mine uses Google’s Calendar Embeddable Helper to view Calendar events on her blog (and I’ve recently added it to one of my hobby sites and was able to modify to my liking).

You’d have to have a Google Calendar account. You go to your calendar, click on ‘Manage calendars’ under your list of calendars. When Calendar Settings opens, go to Calendar. Click on the name of your calendar you want displayed, when its details open up, click the HTML button next to ‘Calendar Address’. When the popup opens, click where it says ‘Use our configuration tool’. Another page will open in the background (Click OK out of the HTML link popup). From the Google Embeddable Calendar Helper, edit the calendar’s appearance to your liking and copy/paste the code into your blog’s template sidebar, index, page, etc. — wherever you’d like it to be displayed. ??

    Hope that helps!
