  • I went with Konnichiwa! (comes with the exclamation mark) see https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/konnichiwa/.

It’s relatively simple and lightweight but does excellent content protection, which I could never get Membership 2 to do right.

One nice feature about it is that you can set a default ‘free’ membership that automatically signs people up on it when they register on your site, so it doesn’t have to be a two-step process for them of signing up for the site and then signing up for your introductory free membership.

Another nice feature is that it works well with Arigato Pro (haven’t tried it with the free version) email autoresponder, since it’s made by the same company.

I’ve asked the same question elsewhere on this forum.

The video membership theme that I bought for a new site originally came with Membership 2, but I needed to switch after support was pulled. The designer of the theme kept encouraging me to continue with Membership 2, but that seemed risky, because I wanted good support.

The theme developer claimed Ultimate Membership Pro was also supported, although he offers zero documentation for how to best set it up with the theme, so it has been difficult for me to get it going. I asked for help from the developer, but no word, yet.

I ended up using Ultimate Membership Pro, and making my best guesses for how to make it work with the theme. It seems like a good product.

I might try konnichiwa for another membership site, though. Maybe if I discard the video theme I bought and start over…

@vafunculo Hi! I also tried the Konnichiwa plugin. Seems to be working fine restricting content but there’s an issue with the Paypal payment. When you successfully pay with “Check out as guest with credit or Visa” and click on “Return to Merchant” it takes you to a Paypal broken link hence the payment is passed but the user is not added to the membership.

Fixed it. The post parameter for the return field was set to index.php. Change it to the actual page URL.
