Any news on letting us do post formats?

Hi, a couple of months ago we commented to each other about possibly accommodating code in the post template that would let us disable / enable ads.
Is this happening yet? Just wondering, because I’d sure like to use it.
(Reminder: for example, when we create custom post templates, we could add code to the post template.php to say <!–OffDef–><ads1> or something like that so that we could have some posts that only have one ad, some that have 2, some 3, etc.
The reason is, some of our posts are short — paragraph or 2, or even 4, and I don’t want all three ads on them. I just want one or two. Currently, I have to go into each post manually and add the OffDef in the text side of the post. It’s a lot of work. But I could just make a custom template and add the offdef ads1 ads4 code and it would be easy.
