Any plans on future development for remote images?

Hello, is there any plans on future development to insert links from external images and display instead of downloading it. It not just the space ( mine is 300GB so far) of images, but also the processing time of imports due to the large amount of images. I already host them on Google Buckets but its still a massive amount of Space and additional work to delete and keep the bucket clean after deleted images.

I have seen 2 plugins, 1 is no longer active and the other still is, which lets you use WPAI and have external images, they are for Woocommerce which is not what I use. From what I read, they use the image link and insert it into the Database as Postmeta into the post so that it can be pulled and displayed.

I just don’t see how the developers of WPAI have not incorporated this function, especially with all the API’s now providing access to all images etc and other developers have created plugins for this function..
