Any plugin I install considerably slows down my site

  • I’m just learning to use wordpress and plugins.

    My site is really slow, especially after installing any plugin.

    Currently I only have 2 plugins activated: GT Metrics and WordPress SEO by Yoast.

    The page takes a little over 3 seconds to load.

    When I activate other plugins like Contact Form 7 or All In One Favicon which I think I really need, the page load times increase exponentially.

    I am at a complete loss as to how to resolve this.

    I would appreciate any ideas or direction.
