We have an issue with Mailchimp 4 WordPress where an automation mail for any purchase by a contact within the audience in Mailchimp, is only triggered if the contact’s e-mail address is not yet in the Audience.

Simply put, only first time buyers receive the automated e-mail. It is an important e-mail that explains how you can start working with the product that the customer has purchased. We want all customers to receive that automated e-mail every time they purchase a product.

In the settings of your plugin there’s no option that we can find (nor in Mailchimp) that determines that only first time purchases should trigger that type of automation.

    Can you advise?

    Thanks in afvance.

If you are using the WooCommerce checkout integration, that is the expected behavior. Someone is registered on checkout.

For more advanced options you can use the MailChimp for Wp Premium add-on, then you are able to sync all your WooCommerce orders with MailChimp and use all the ecommerce campaign features in MailChimp including the Product Followup campaigns, order notifications etc.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!

    Hi Lap,

We do have the Mailchimp for Woocommerce Premium addon. And we have the checkbox on the checkout form plus the settings are set so that the data in Mailchimp of existing subscribers are updated.

So there should be no reason why the automation ‘Purchase any product’ only registers first time purchasers.

    Please advise.

    Kind regards,

    Rob

This is the support forum for MailChimp for WordPress, MailChimp for WooCommerce is another plugin made by a different company. I can only help with MailChimp for WordPress.

If you use MailChimp for WordPress Premium, please go to MailChimp for WP > Ecommerce and make sure you store is synced. If it is, you can create / use the ecommerce automations and they should indeed work.

For support on the Premium plugin you can use the red help button on the right bottom of the page when you are in the plugin settings to contact the Premium support department.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Ah, sorry I made a typo. We used to use Mailchimp for Wooocommerce but now we have Mailchimp for WordPress with the premium addon.

We have the store synced up and everything works great. Except that the specific automation trigger mentioned is only triggered with new purchases and not when an existing customer makes a second purchase.

To be honest I overlooked the red button in the lower right corner. I’ll use that to mail our issue directly to support. Thanks for your help.

If yo use MailChimp for WP Premium I recommend to contact Premium support about this.

However, if your orders are correctly synced to MailChimp (you can check this by looking at the contacts details in MailChimp for an email you know has a recent order) it’s “out of our hands”, from there MailChimp takes over / you will have to ask them for help setting up their automations.

I do know that all the ecommerce integrations should work normally using MC4WP.

I look forward to your message via the Premium support channel. Thanks.
