    At the moment, the only way to replace it is by editing the front page template directly through Dashboard->Appearance->Editor.
    WordPress load it’s template based on the default hierarchy, and front page will load the front page template.

    In Waterlava theme I removed the “front-page.html” file from the “wp-content\themes\waterlava\templates” directory. After doing so my page loaded as the front page. Hope this helps.

    I appreciate @aadeemaanav for helping.

    If you remove front-page.html, it will load the next file in the hierarchy list. Since we don’t have home.html, then it will load index.html
    If you want your index page as your homepage, you can do that.
