    Hi,

I searched the forum for “New User Approve” and came across a reply from your team saying that the “Anyone can register” feature has to be turned on in order for the Approve New Users plugin to work correctly. Is this still the case?

We have had new (legitimate) registrations before installing the plugin with the “Anyone can register” disabled. If I enable it, is is not highly likely that more registration spam is coming in?

I am trying to understand the importance of “Anyone can register” if my website features a forum sign up form and a newsletter sign up form.

    Thank you,
    Jana

    Hi @wpforosupport,

‘Anyone can register’ allows user registrations from the WordPress default registration form, if you are using some registration-related plugin for user registrations then ‘Anyone can register’ shouldn’t have any effect on the registration functionality. ‘New User Approve’ should work fine without turning on the ‘Anyone can register’ setting.

And yes you are right regarding the spam, turning on this setting will allow registrations from the WordPress default registration form, this will cause an increased level of registration spam.

    Thanks
