• I was trying to access my dashboard but it took a good 10 minutes before I was finally able to get there. My website won’t even load and I am stuck on the homepage of the dashboard because when I try to do anything I get a message saying “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.” It has been like this for a half hour no matter what I do. My site won’t even load up. Anyone else having this problem or did you find a solution?

  • This normally means that an update has failed somewhere along the way. If you haven’t done any updates to your site yourself then it would be an automatic update that’s broken.

The way to get back into your site is pretty easy. you need to use FTP to connect to your hosting server, and then delete the file called .maintenance in the websites root folder. That will let your site be seen again.

If it is a failed update then you might have more issues when the site is back online again, so if that’s the case let us know.

I just got off the phone with tech support over at godaddy and the guy actually just confirmed that my site is working properly as is wordpress. He told me that it’s actually an issue with their servers and that I am not the first customer to call in with this complaint/ issue. I was told to give it an hour while they update and fix their server issues and try again. So I guess I will have to wait an hour then. If the issue has been resolved by then I will mark this topic resolved but if not I will have to reply back and see what I can do but thanks for the response.

Ok, that is not what I expected, but it’s godo of them to acknowledge that there’s a problem.

As that’s the case the only thing that you can do is wait it out. Until the hosting server is back and running there’s nothing that anyone ehre can do to help. Hopefully it won’t be too long for you.

Well the problem fixed itself but unfortunately I am now getting this message in the dashboard that says “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.” I tried clicking the please attempt the update again now link and nothing the message still appears. Any ideas on how to fix this?
