• I tried to just send a client a URL for HTTP access to some image files in a sub directory I added to my WP powered site but I think .htaccess is prevent access to these files .. when you lick on the image file as listed in browser window goes to the default 404 page not found page of the WP website … even when you right click and save file to desktop the file is corrupted … think it attempt to download the 404 error page in JPEG format or something …

    What I want to know is 2) How to prevent this from happening?

    Or better yet — Whether there is some cool file download manager that can interface with a sub directory and which you can use to password protect directories for specific clients.
