I am sure there will be thousands of WP users who won’t update. Actually there are users using versions much earlier than yours. Many people are happy once they succeeded to install it and make it work, so they will stick to …”if ain’t broken don’t fix it” ??
If you do not need the “goodies” offered by 1.5 I guess nobody will force you to upgrade. Though it’s fun!

My blog is still running WP 1.2.2. All I was waiting for are three things: (1) the ability to skin the site (not just be able to switch the design myseif, from the Admin Panel). There’s a new Theme Switcher plugin that accomplishes this. (2) Making sure David Chait’s “Chaitgear” plugins work with 1.5. And apparently he’s working on this as we speak. (3) Determining what changes I’ll need to make to my heavily customized templates so that they work with 1.5. I’m ready go to, except for Item 3; I just need to find the time to do that!

It may be wise to wait for all the bugs and kinks to be ironed out and if WP 1.2.x is serving your purpose, no sense in upsetting the applecart as I see it.

Simply put, if WP 1.2.x serves your needs right now, and there are no security issues with it (and there shouldn’t be, if you’ve upgraded to 1.2.2), then the answer is probably “stick with 1.2” until there’s a compelling reason to do otherwise.

IMO, there are major downsides to remaining with v1.2.2. Chief among them, IMO, is that any future security patches will be for the v1.5 branch, not the v1.2 branch. Also, most future plugins and themes will be for v1.5 only. Though, Joni is right, you might want to wait for v1.5.1 before upgrading.

    sounds good to me..

it took me a good two months to hack my version to get it the way I wanted it.. spam free etc…

with much thanks to this forum.. couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help..

by the way I highly recommend everyone use the permalink structure that shows the year month date and shows-the-link-postings-like-this

i have been studying my referal logs and stats etc.. it makes a big difference and is more friendly for people trying to figure out what a link is about etc…

    highly recommended…

    anyway,

    cheers to WP and all
