    Hi

Until very recently this site was very fast and scored 100/100 on GTMetrix.

Today, it’s struggling and the biggest problem seems to be one js file that is linked to AO (see images, below)

    Can you suggest anything?

    EDIT

I’ve turned off the testimonial slideshow that was on this page and performance has improved a bit. The ‘offending’ js file is now:

That file is the combination of all your site’s JS files Steve and if you have a lot of JavaScript then indeed the aggregated JS-file is likely to be mentioned as having long tasks/ long execution time.

Although it won’t help with the fact you have a lot of JS, it might help NOT to aggregate the JS, configuring AO instead to “don’t aggregate but defer” + “also defer inline JS” and possibly removing most or even all of the exclusions?

The best solution however will be to make the site less dependent on JavaScript ??

Thank you for the super fast response!

    I’ll do what you suggest.

I’d certainly like to remove reliance on JavaScript but I’m not that clever unfortunately!

disable as many plugins that “stuff” to the frontend as possible and test the impact? ??

I turned off a few plugins and voila!

    Thank you for your help!

But now the galleries that show my reviews aren’t loading….

I’ll reactivate plugins until they are.

    No luck.

Could there be any AO settings that are preventing the galleries (the are Foo Galleries) from loading do you think?

    I’ve found the reason.

When I selected ‘do not aggregate but defer’, that’s what stopped the gallery from loading.

in that case try excluding that from JS optimization?

    I’ll try that, thanks

Sorry Frank! Forgot to update you.

I unticked ‘do not aggregate but defer’, excluded foogallery.min.js, and the galleries loaded.

The original problem (the js file that was slowing the site down) just disappeared ??
