• I have been developing a site on my local server using MAMP for 2 weeks now, no problem– on my MacBook Pro (10.9.1). I woke up this morning, Apache server not connecting. When I switched Apache port to 8080 or 8888 I get a green light but now MySQL won’t connect with any port. Log shows “caught SIGTERM, shutting down” from last night originally. Last log before that notice was an error about an image upload.

I think I didn’t stop the servers before bed, so Apache may have been looping through this. Can’t seem to find an answer anywhere online. Going thru tons of post in MAMP forum.

Apache logs shows image upload errors in WP, but that is from all day yesterday and it was working for me fine all day.

I would like to just get my WP install and theme with customization and put it in on a sub-install on my live site to avoid dealing with all of this. Can I just copy the whole WP install and load to my remote server? Thnaks for any advice.

  • Hi Sam,

It sounds like your MySQL installation in MAMP isn’t powering up all the way Do you have a red or green light next to MySQL in the MAMP interface when you start up MAMP?

If it’s red, then that’s the problem. If you try to start it and it won’t start, then MySQL is suffering some sort of error when you start it up. You could try going to the Log, MySQL menu and looking at the errors that it lists there. But start by trying to stop and start MAMP entirely first.

You can always try rebooting your computer too. On occasion that will clear out whatever is blocking MySQL from starting up. Otherwise the problem is one that will have to be assessed by checking the errors you’re getting in MySQL (from the logs above)
