My site was hacked and the person who repaired it loaded this plugin on my site to keep it secure. So far, it’s never worked. ??

I’ve installed Wordfence 7.4.1 on a WP site running WP 5.2.4.

It will scan my site and send me email notices, but so far I’ve never been able to repair a file. I always get the following API error message: WordFence API error: An error occured trying to open the requested file.

I’ve reached out to my host and they can’t find a problem (but they might not know where exactly to look).

I’ve disabled all other plugins and tested it with the twenty-seventeen theme, and get the same error message.

I’d appreciate any ideas on how to resolve this.

    Thanks,
    Stuart

  • Hi @stuartwaldner,

Can you let me know what the path and the name of the file that Wordfence can’t repair?

    For example: /wp-content/plugins/something/some-file.php

This sounds like an issue with permissions, can you also check if the web host is able to read/write to the document root of your site? (Which is the folder that contains, wp-content, wp-admin)

    Hi @stuartwaldner,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’ve gone ahead and marked this thread as resolved.

Please feel free to open another thread if you’re still having issues with Wordfence.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
