    I am a member on the wordpress forums. However, I do not have an api key. I have followed these instructions:
    //
    To find your key go to your dashboard and then click on “Profile?? (or “My Account??) and you should see a sentence that says “Your WordPress.com API key is:?? followed by a string of 12 letters and numbers. There you have it! You can copy and paste that string to any place where it is asked for by a service you want to use.
    //

    Do i need to fill out the https://wordpress.com/signup/ page? If I sign up for the mentioned page, do I now have another website?

    Oh yeah, I was wanting to use the Akismet plugin for my own personal site.

    You have to get the .com blog to get the api key. You don’t have to use the blog. I don’t know if you can use the api key if you delete the blog after you get the key. I don’t know if you can use akismet on a non-wp site.

    Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and signed up for a <name>.wordpress.com acct and the api key for that site works on my personal site.

    Good then…. have fun!
