    Hello @cwl26

Hope you’re doing well today! Thank you for reaching out to us.

The error you mention is related to the SMTP configuration on your site. SMTP is a popular way to replace the Default WordPress Emails and use your custom email address which the site uses to send email. Could you please confirm if you are using any SMTP plugins on your site to handle emails?

When it comes to emails, WordPress itself “decides” the method to send them from the site. Forminator emails will be sent by the same method used by WordPress.

Looking at the error, it seems that the SMTP plugin’s “API Key” is not configured correctly on your site and hence it is unable to send emails. Also, I reckon the problem should not be limited to Forminator ideally, to test this, can you please trigger the default WordPress Password Reset Email to see if the email is delivered to you? You can trigger this by clicking on the “Lost Password” link on the WP admin login page.

    Kind Regards,
    Saurabh

    Hello Saurabh,

I am doing well thanks, hope you are too. Thanks for the reply.

I have the WP Mail SMTP Lite installed and that is it and of course Forminator.

Triggered the lost password, no message received.

    Have a great day,
    Cecil

    Hi @cwl26,

Hope this message finds you well.

Since the issue persists not only with Forminator forms but also with WP emails, it means the issue is related to WP Mail SMTP, according to the error you shared, it seems the API Key for smtp.com is incorrect if you have an account with them please check with their support the correct API key and add at WP Mail SMTP >> Settings.

If you don’t have an account, then you need to change the SMTP method to the email account service you are using to send the emails.

Let us know the results after fixing the WP Mail SMTP configuration.

    Best regards,
    Laura
