API key, can't find it

    I have read this page in search for my API key https://en.wordpress.com/api-keys/

    I can’t find it.

    I bought hosting at website palace and installed wordpress through their system.

    I didn’t get any welcome e mail from word press.

    I also can’t see this “your API key is listed on your profile page, which you can get to by clicking the “My Account” link in the top left when you’re logged in.” part.

    I can’t even see my account in my wp-admin.

    Please help me find my API.

    And is API for Akismet the same?

  • You need to sing up for a free acount (just an account – not a blog) at wordpress.com to get hold of an API key. And, yes, it’s the same key for Akismet.

    Is that not the thing I just signed for, this is I guess just for a forum?

    I am sorry, but now I am even more lost.

    I go to www.ads-software.com and there is no register or log ing anywhere. OMG, I will loose my mind ??

    I guess I was supposed to go to wordpress.com. Still trying to find it but I guess I am getting close ??

    You need to sign up for the account at wordpress.com, not www.ads-software.com. Follow this guide:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/

    Go to wordpress.com. Sign up for an account. Log into your new wordpress.com account. Copy your API key. Log out.

    Go your your self-hosted WordPress site. Log in. Paste your API key into Akismet.
