I have a blog that is not hosted on www.ads-software.com. I apparently need a API key for use with this blog. Please give me some clear instructions for getting this key. Here is the URL for my blog: https://christianityetc.org/blog. Thanks.

What are you trying to do? It sounds like you are about to use some service that requires an API-key, such as google maps. If that is the case, the api key is provided from the service you want to use and you normally place it in the header of your site.

    Google maps for example:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="https://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&v=2&key=ASJHEGH86JSFKJLLK75hRaonE5GlCIOMmRLM1r3y5qBEZV2xSe3cz897392874KJSKJFHIUHW-KIJXeMgi_m4Og&sensor=false"></script>

Note that this api key is not working since I just put some random text in it. But normally it looks something like this.

    Hi,

If you are using a service such as Akismet or Stats you will need a WordPress.com API key. They are free for personal use.

This WordPress.com article on api keys describes why and how to get one.

    Hello members,
I just realized that I have a big mixup in my WordPress accounts. I have one blog under one user name, which is working with my website on another host. I apparently established another account with WordPress under a slightly different user name. I was able to get an API key for this account, but it is for a non-existing blog that I don’t intend to create. I apparently need to delete this second account. How do I do that? Then I need to make some adjustments in the settings for my initial account that will produce an API key for it as a part of my Global Profile.

What do I need to do to correct my account status with WordPress? I don’t want to change any settings that will harm my current blog. I apparently only need to make some changes in my Profile. Your help with this problem will be greatly appreciate. Please keep your instructions specific and clear. Thanks.

Apparently I can’t delete this 2nd account. I logged into it and changed the cited email from my established current email address to one that I previously used but is no longer being used. I don’t have another active email address. I understand from the instructions regarding “Deleting Accounts” that this change would “free up” my primary e-mail address for exclusive use with my initial account. Is that right? I’m not sure how to correct this mess that I have created. I understand that I should ignore this 2nd account and not bother to try to use it, but I don’t want its presence on my version of WordPress to interfere with the operation of my established blog. So what should I do to correct this mess? I’m still left with the problem of getting the API key for my established blog. And I’m not sure how to do that. I don’t want to create any new accounts or new blogs. I need some detailed help with this process. Thanks.
