API Key restrictions by referer

    Hi, does YTC work with restrictions by referer in YouTube Data API Key? As soon as I set one in my API Key I always receive an error message. Without restrictions set, YTC works fine.

    Hi manasek,

    YouTube Channel works OK with Server API Key restriction, but only if you set proper server IP. On my website https://urosevic.net/wordpress/ I use server key with restrictions.

    What is important to note is that on shared host you can need to use IP different that IP for domain, so best is to you get proper IP with this handy script https://pastebin.com/g9t3nMQJ (put script content to PHP file in your website root and visit it in browser – you’ll get proper IP to whitelist in server key restrictions).

    Also, please note that after you enable restrictions and add whitelisted IP, you should wait 1-5 minutes before Google refresh restrictions and allow usage from new IP address.

    Hi Aleksandar,

    thank you for a quick response. I have been setting only HTTP referres (web sites) not IP addresses (web servers) in API Key restrictions. If this is a point I will try to set a server IP.

    unfortunately I have not time to try your solution yet (other priorities ??

    But I believe that your solution should work. ASAP I try set a srver key up and running, I will let you know.
