    Hello,
When I go to the Appearance button on the admin page and click on Themes, I can see 3 pre-installed themes. When I click on “Add New” today I get a blank page.

Yesterday I could click on a button for www.ads-software.com themes and see hundreds of them.

I also get a blank page if I click on customize or header under Appearance. So something has gone wrong with that button.

Has anyone had this happen? Anyone know how to fix it?

    Thanks,
    Maria

A blank page means PHP is crashing, usually due to a function conflict, typically introduced by a plugin or theme.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

There are no active plugins other than one that is listed as must use which I cannot deactivate.

I tried switching themes. It did not fix it.

What else can I try? I’ve spent all day on this on the phone with Blue Host and Mojo Marketplace. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, emptied cache, etc. Nothing is working.

    What else can I do?

Ok, first please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting https://whatbrowser.org/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

    Hello,

I tried doing all of these things and none of them fixed it.

I’m using Firefox 47.0 and have also tried it on Google Chrome.

I had a friend log into my admin site and they can get full functionality on the appearance tab, so it sounds like it’s something on my computer or browser or network.

    What else can I check?

The weirdest thing is it all worked fine yesterday and I have made no changes to anything since then!

Are you absolutely sure you tried with all browser extensions and add-ons disabled? Even ad blockers?

Ad and script blockers can sometimes get a bit overzealous and block a lot more than ads and tracking scripts.

I have disabled absolutely everything–all extensions and all plug-ins.

I also tried using Google Chrome. It does not work on there either.

Is your friend accessing your WordPress Dashboard under your account?

    Yes.

It has to be something on your computer then. What’s your operating system, and are you running any system-level security or parental controls that you could try disabling?

    (@tedderfield)

I’m on a mac. My operating system is OS 10.9.5.

Nothing was changed between Wednesday when the website worked fine and Thursday when it did not.

So, I don’t see how it could be my computer.

Could it be my network? I have Xfinity internet from Comcast.

I called my internet provider…they upgraded the speed of my internet in case it was a timing out issue. But that also did not work.

I still do not have functionality from the Appearances button/tab/whatever.

    What else can I try?

In Chrome, under the File menu, select “New Incognito Window” and try in that.

This essentially disables all possible third-party elements, so it will be interesting to see how that does.

    (@tedderfield)

OK, I will try that now.

Nope, the appearance tab still does not work.
