Rather than a Wordfence development, I have seen a trac entry in the WordPress development tickets that specifically mentions this functionality being added: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/42790

WordPress 5.6 looks like it will include this feature, and you can check the progress of this release milestone here: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/milestone/5.6
