apply coupon even when cart is empty

    i am trying to create coupon links that auto apply even if the cart is empty but it doesn’t seem that woocomerce allows this – on the link i provided there seems to be a way to do this using the Defer Apply Option but i haven’t been able to figure it out. I tried messing around with the cart condition settings, but i can’t figure out how to do this.

    Does the auto apply (premium feature) accomplish this? Again I am trying to setup a customer coupon link that they can click on and then after they can add product to their cart and the coupon is auto applied.

    I tried editing the functions.php in my live theme using a GET method in the url but when i do this i just get an error saying the cart is empty – even if i redirect to the store and try to apply the code – it won’t apply until there is something in the cart. Is the auto apply or defer apply option my only options here?

    Hi @latifb,

    Did you set a cart condition on your coupon? If so, you’ll need to enable the Defer Apply option. When the cart is empty, the cart condition becomes invalid, preventing the coupon from being applied. The defer apply option allows the cart to “remember” the coupon and automatically apply it once the cart condition is met.

    can you let me know where that option is? i tried setting a conditional for the cart quantity at 0 or 1 but i am unable to find the defer apply option – i can’t find the defer apply option anywhere in in coupon data – please let me know where i can find this setting. I haven’t been able to locate it.

    I found an article saying it’s in the URL coupons menu under “redirect back to origin” but even after i set a cart condition – it does not appear in the screenshot in the article. please see my screenshot https://i.imgur.com/IYybNxe.png the option is missing even though i have a cart condition set

    i aM doing this is a dev environment and not prod could that be the cause? i can’t figure out why this option isn’t showing

    The defer apply option is available in our Advanced Coupons for WooCommerce Premium plugin.
