Apply custom template on Archive Widget pages

  • Hi all,
    I am trying to find a way to apply a custom template for the pages that Archive Widget creates, for example a month’s posts.
    I haven’t found anything on Internet about this, I thought I could get some help in here.
    For now, Archive Widget uses the index.php file as a template. Can I make it use another custom file as a template, lets say archive.php??

  • The Archives Widget doesn’t really create pages but rather provides links to posts the meet a certain date criteria.

    The Template Hierarchy date display section explains what template gets used when displaying posts.

    But to answer your question, you can create a Template called archive.php to display date based archives (or even date.php).
