• I have some products with 66 variations and I want all sku’s to be the same. I entered the sku in the inventory section but then each variation was assigned a unique sku. However, when the order emails come in I don’t know what that sku refers to since there are 1000’s now.

Not sure what I did differently but some of products DO have the same sku for each variation which is what I need.

Is there anyway to easily go back and change all my sku’s for each variation to one sku per product if I don’t need them for inventory control?

Also is this a good forum for support or should I be taking these questions to the woocommerce website?

    thanks!

  • SKUs are different for different variations, or at least they should be, so it looks like its not really a SKU that you want. Instead, look for “custom fields”. This plugin:
    https://en-gb.www.ads-software.com/plugins/wc-fields-factory/
can do admin-side custom fields for variations, so you could setup say a product_id custom field and make them all the same for each variation.

There are other custom fields plugins and solutions. Checkout www.ads-software.com/plugins and codecanyon.net.

Getting a custom field to auto-populate to a rule sounds like a fairly unique requirement so that feature may not exist. You may need to ask a developer to write some custom code to do this.

Professional software vendor support always excludes customisations, unless paid for, otherwise demand would be infinite, but there’s no rule against asking in both places.
