I want to change my template to a new template. I am currently using ZeeMinty and wanted to move to WP Simple. In playing around with it I can see this is going to be pretty involved and take me some time to be sure every formats properly. How can I do this while keeping my existing site live until all formatting is complete?

  • Hello [email protected],

If you want change the template you should first apply it on staging server and after setting up the new template put it on Live sever after testing it on staging.

Or if you want keep the site as it is until you setup new template just create new instance in new folder called dev and start making changes over their.

    Thanks

That is what I am asking how do I use and where do I find a staging server? That is what I am used to using but I can’t find a way to copy my site and put it somewhere else. Please advise. I am using GoDaddy for hosting, should that be something you need to know.

    Hello [email protected],

You need to setup staging server for that please follow below steps:

    1) Login into your GoDaddy account.
    2) Go to file Manager and go into root folder.
    3) create folder name “dev or staging” as you want.
    4) copy your live WP files in new folder edit your config file with after creating new database for your staging.
    5) Export live database and import it into staging database.
    6) your staging url will be your-domainname.com/dev
