    Hi,

I’m using the plugin CusRev to receive reviews for purchased products.

Today a customer contacted me, telling me that he can’t apply the dicount code without creating an account and logging in.

    So basically:

    • Customer left review
    • Customer wants to use the discount code
    • On the cart page it says something like: A valid email address is needed in order to use the code
    • However, on the checkout page, the same message is showing, even after entering the valid email on the checkout page

From what I understand, the customer would need to create an account first to be able to use the discount code, which is IMO a total pain in the a**.

Is there a way to either disable those email restrictions (coupon codes are created automatically by CusRev with that email restriction) or let the customer use the code without having to create an account first?

Otherwise it is pointless to let a guest customer leave a review, but not being able to use that discount code as a guest.

I’d rather have that email restriction option completely disabled, than needing a customer to create an account first.

    Hey @billy85 ,

Thanks for reaching out! Based on the details you provided, it seems that the issue is related to how the CusRev plugin handles coupon generation, specifically with the email restriction tied to the reviewer’s email address. WooCommerce itself doesn’t enforce these kinds of restrictions on coupon codes by default, so this functionality is likely being controlled by CusRev.

Since this involves a third-party plugin, I recommend reaching out to the CusRev support team for further help with this. Here is a direct link to their dedicated support forum:

They should be able to guide you on how to allow customers to use the discount code without needing to create an account.

    Hope this helps!

So, I tested a little bit more and it seems to be a Woocommerce issue.

    Here is what I did:

    • I turned off almost all plugins?(including CusRev)?except a few that I need.
    • I created a new Coupon Code that is restricted to my email address.
    • I opened an Inkognito window and went to the checkout page as a Guest
    • I entered the restricted Email address and tried to use the Coupon Code
    • Still doesn’t work and it keeps saying: Enter a valid email address

So it looks like it is not possible to use the coupon code as a guest and without creating an account, if that coupon code is restricted to an email, even if you enter the email on the checkout page.

    Hello Dominic,

I tried to replicate the issue on my test site but could not do so.
The coupon is working as expected with the email used in the Restriction settings.

    Here are screenshots:

As a next step, I suggest performing a complete conflict test where you disable all the plugins and switch to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Four.

Let me know how it goes. ??

    Best regards.
